A Comparative Study of Stance Markers in Chinese and American Mainstream Media Reports on the Belt and Road Initiative — A Focus on the Belt and Road Forum on International Cooperation

Xiaoya Lv

Abstract: As the highest-level international event under the Belt and Road framework, the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation plays an important role in promoting the Belt and Road Initiative. How the mainstream media of China and America view about the forum is also very influential in the international community, affecting many aspects. However, previous studies on the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation focused on the metaphorical framework, news narrative, national image construction, critical discourse analysis and conceptual metaphor, and so on. The analysis on the stance markers of the forum by Chinese and American media is rare.
