Scirj Volume VI, Issue IV, April 2018 Edition ISSN: 2201-2796 Mr. S.Lakshan, Dr. A.K. Karunarathne Abstract: Yield of a crop of rice is dependent upon many obvious factors irrigation, fertilization, weeding, and pest and disease control. One of the less obvious but equally important factors is land preparation. Were selected areas to eastern province in tow location palugamam and navithanwelly each location soil condition, availability of water, soil type, are same. Mainly farmers are cultivated paddy in rainy season (maha). Most important practices the correct land preparation in paddy cultivation. Were collected data from twenty farmers each farmers are what are implement are used they did land preparation (tine tiller, rotavator, disc). Primary, secondary land preparation most important correctly combine implement to get good yield. Primary land preparation (disc, tine tiller) secondary land preparation (rotavator ,tine tiller) this combine impalements used got high yield paddy cultivation this farmers use this implement purposely because department of agriculture instruction form agriculture instructors this practice are reduce cost of applications pesticide. Weedicide labour costs any other special practices. Some farmers are considering initial costs to land preparation (used to rotavator from primary, secondary land preparation) so this type of farmers are got less yield because this farmers are sowing paddy seeds after very difficult to control the weeds and pests anyway they want applied so many chemical cultivated land cost are high.
